KOL RINA TEAM
Avi Friedberger - Founding Executive Team Member
Avi covers many roles having co-founding the minyan a decade ago. She supports across strategy development, comms and event management. Outside, Avi is a dentist, a wife and Mummy to two wonderful children. She loves cooking, travel, art and getting stuck into a good book.
Benedict Roth
Benedict was originally Kol Rina’s chief lifter and carrier. He is passionate about the value of teaching children to read for themselves from the Torah scroll and was driven to establish a partnership minyan in Golders Green because of his belief in education and in human rights as essential Jewish values. Benedict teaches Mishnah daily – search the usual platforms for The Daily Mishnah with Benedict – and he has written extensively on halakha related to Torah reading by women. You can find his work at http://www.torahreader.net or Google Benedict Roth JC for his author page.
Dena Barasi - Finance and Logistics Lead
Dena manage the finances and leads on anything food related and children’s services as well as venue liaison. She’s been involved for the last ten years. She feels strongly about giving women as many opportunities to engage in the shul service to the extent that Halacha can allow. She believes that having the opportunity to be involved is kavod hatsibur. In real life, she is the head of economic regulation for Scottish Power.
Norm Guthartz - Gabbai
Norm has attended the minyan since its inception and joined the operational team two years ago. In addition to serving as gabbai in our tefillot, he assigns leiners and tefilla leaders. Norm had been involved in similar minyanim in Israel – specifically Jerusalem’s ground-breaking Kehillat Yedidya – and in the London area before he joined us. He is a retired journalist who worked for newspapers and magazines in the States, Israel and the UK.
Anna Bloch - Communications Lead
Having recently joined the team, Anna leads on developing Kol Rina’s communications strategy and delivery to its members. She believes that strong and engaged communities are built when women are included in all aspects of communal life. She really enjoys participating fully in the tefilot and being among such an engaged group of members. Outside of this, she works in corporate communications and political campaigning while also being a mum to two young boys.
Ronit Winebar - Gabbai
Ronit is an essential part of the gabbai team, having been involved in Kol Rina for five years. She became involved with us as she believes that it is an important space for more people to participate more actively in minyanim. Outside, she’s a solicitor.
Andrea Jacobs - Operations Manager
Andrea provide s Operations support - administration and marketing for Kol Rina Minyan since January 2024. She also provides a similar role for Kehillat Nashira (Borehamwood Partnership Minyan) and is motivated by seeing inclusivity within the Orthodox community.
